The most peaceful university in Nigeria known as Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS) is blessed with overwhelming classrooms and examination halls across various faculties of the institution.

The ETF 3 lecture hall is one of the largest classrooms in UDUS which has the capacity to contain about 800 students at a time. It is traditionally used for registration exercises for new students. But, some of the furniture in this wide classroom has become weak and stopped working.

Similarly, some of its ceiling fans are no longer working properly to blow fresh air to students. The status of furniture, electronics and other necessary items in the hall make it unconducive for some students to learn in it. The condition of ETF3 is peculiar to some other classrooms in the university.

Prometric ICT center, a building filled with computers for conducting GST and Computer Based Test (CBT) tests and examinations is a very conducive building. It is well furnished but not spacious to contain many students at a time.

Additionally, the inactive fans in many lecture halls which are meant to cool off the students’ heats so as to be able to feel relaxed while studying are challenges. One of the notable small classrooms in UDUS A classes located in the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies (FAIS).

There are some general courses offered by 100 level students in which the biggest hall could not contain them. It makes some students sit on the bare floor while some would stand on their feets through the lecture.

It will be of great help if the federal government of Nigeria can give a hand in aiding the construction of more big classes across public universities.
