The management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lawal Suleiman Bilbis, has on Wednesday 19th July, 2023, conducted its annual matriculation ceremony for the newly admitted students into the 100-level and 200-level undergraduate, and also the new students who are not graduate of this school into the postgraduate school.
The programme which took place at the University Convocation Theater, main campus, was graced by important personalities of the University, among them are the Vice-Chancellor, Professor L.S Bilbis, the Dean Student Affairs, professor Umar Aliyu, the Deans faculty of Social Sciences, faculty of Arts, faculty of Arabic and Islamic studies, faculty of Education and Extension Services.
Follow the opening prayer said by Mallam Bello Hassan from faculty of Social Sciences, the president of UDUS Students’ Union, Muhammad Sanusi, delivered an opening remarks where he stated that the new students have been waiting for the day.
He welcomed all newly admitted student of the institution and advised them to abide by the rules and regulations of the Varsity, and they should also face there studies and make sure they achieve the aim of being in the university.
“Make sure you all keep off any illegal activities like cultism, examination malpractice, prostitution and all other acts that could jeopardize your studentship on this campus,” he advised.
Professor Umar Aliyu, the Dean of Student Affairs also urged the newly admitted students to face their studies, regardless of any situation they find themselves.
He also added that the student should not go against the rulee and regulation of the university.
“The student handbook would be given to you very soon,” he asserted.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Lawal Suleiman Bilbis also welcomed the newly admitted student and congratulated them and their parents, advised the new students to be good ambassadors of themselves and their parents, urged them not to go against any of the university rules and regulation.
He called the newly admitted student to feel fortunate and express gratitude to Almighty God for being part of the university family.
“The university will extremely be proud and joyous with the achievement over them,” he said.
He, however, revealed the details of students admitted for the 2022/2023 academic session while the event ended with the recitation of the Nigerian National Anthem.
In an interview with one of the matriculants, Jamiu idaoba a 100-level student from the department of Economics, he expressed his gratitude to Allah for witnessing the unforgettable day.
Jamiu said that he was glad to be among the admitted candidates to the most peaceful university in Nigeria.
“I promise that university to be a good student and will always abide to the protocol of the institution,” he said.
