Mohammed Taoheed (MOT) reports,

Tiamiyu Aliyu Imogbemi, a presidential candidate for the upcoming Law Students’ Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto chapter, has debunked claims of stepping down for an opponent within the school community.

Aliyu made this known in a memo entitled “Upholding My Candidacy: Clarifying the Misconceptions”, which was exclusively obtained by Pen Press UDUS on 26th June, 2023, following claims of disinterest in the yet-to-hold election.

Part of Aliyu’s memo reads: “I write this note to address a recent rumor circulating within our student community. It has come to my attention that there are whispers suggesting that I will be stepping down from the upcoming election in favor of another candidate. I want to assure you all that these rumors are entirely false.

“I want to make it unequivocally clear that I am fully committed to running for the position of LSS President.”

Expressing his ultimate passion to represent the interests of his fellow Law students, the 400-level Law student pledged to be an advocate of “positive change” who wish to work “tirelessly to enhance” the experience of others at the bar.

Furthermore, he prayed that the university community should not “be swayed by baseless rumors” of his not contesting again.

“They are nothing more than attempts to distract and misinform,” he said.
