Hamid Fatimah Omotayo reports,
The Management of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, had on Friday, 7 January, 2022, at its meeting with the students who are yet to pay their tuition fees, reviewed the position of the 2020/2021 academic session registration exercise.
Recall that the University Management released a circular signed by Mallam Ahmad Chafe, (Director, MIS) on the 30th day of December, 2021, stating the extension of closure of portal for registration from the earlier 3rd January to 9th January, 2022, where he said that students were expected to have made their payments of school fees and register their courses before the new deadline.
Sequel to that deadline for payment of tuition fees, the Students’ Union Caretaker Committee of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, pleaded with the Vice-Chancellor of the University, for the extension, on behalf of the students who are financially handicapped, and are yet to make the payment.
The Management, having taken cognizance of the fact that some students were yet to register and print their examination cards (to enable them sit for the forthcoming 1st semester examination), as well as the plea by the Students’ Union, released a circular, stating how the issue is resolved.
According to the circular, the decision for the closure of the portal remains 9th January, 2022.
The circular also stated that, the University management has graciously approved that students yet to make payment should pay a minimum of 50% of their outstanding payments (previous sessions, where applicable, inclusive).
It also directed them to write an undertaking (addressed to the Dean, Student Affairs Division) for payment of the outstanding balance on or before 2nd week of the second semester of 2020/2021 Session.
“Affected students should please note that three (3) copies of the letter of undertaking should be submitted to the Dean Student Affairs Office for further processing.
“Upon payment of the 50% (minimum), and writing the undertaking letter, the affected students will be issued with a temporary examination (to be issued manually) by the Chairman, Examination Monitoring Committee (EMC) to enable them sit for the 1st semester examination,” the circular reads.
Pen Press gathered that the affected students, having followed the above guidelines, will be required to fill course registration form (which will be made available in the University website, www.udusok.edu.ng ) for the students to download, fill and get them approved by their respective departments; and submit same together with the evidence of advance payment of the 50% (minimum) to the Management Information System (MIS) Unit, for further processing.
As for the method of payment, the affected students are asked to access payment portal of the University at http://payments.udusok.edu.ng. They (affected students) are however encouraged to visit the ICT Centre of the University for guidance.
“The affected students are strongly advised to take advantage of the gracious consideration by the University to enable them complete their registration,” the circular concluded.
