Following the implementation of the student loan scheme promised by the President Bola Tinubu in ensuring super achievement for educational system during his administration tenure, shortly, after he signed the Students’ Loan(Access to Higher Education) Act, Nigerians education system in tertiary institutions witness smooth transformation development.
NELFUND initiative has given the students with poor background in Nigeria who found it difficult to pay their school tuition fees during their academic struggles.
With this progress, The students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto state commended the initiative of the federal government in the ongoing student loan (NELFUND), calling it a welcome development while recounting it benefits contributed to their educational journey amid economic crisis.
Speaking with pen press UDUS, Tanimu Murtala Murtala, a 300 level student of political science, who spoke highly of the initiative, affirming that it has helped him to navigate his academics.
According to the data available on the NELFUND portal, NELFUND has registered 403,221 loan applications with 519,025 dedicated students registered and partner with 290 esteemed institutions.
More Beneficiaries appreciation
Tanimu Murtala, was not the only students, who was motivated with this initiative, but also more students like Shukurat Abiola, a 200 level student of Biology department, who see it as a relief in this session for her while recalling the effort she made to pay her last sessions.
“I am most thankful to the federal government and more especially president Bola Tinubu Ahmed who in his leadership mind has the interest of Nigeria students at heart.”
To Nazir Bello, a students of Business Administration, who initially thought it was all a joke and a scheme to deceive Nigerians portal’s he gave it a trial and proceeded to apply for it and lead him to be a beneficiary, He also urged fellow students who are yet to make use of this game changer opportunity
Students Appeal UDUS Management to Update portal
Upon the commencement of this initiative several students in Nigeria institutions have taken a good use of this opportunity and apply, but UDUS students couldn’t apply because the management did not update portal for student application on NELFUND portal, leaving them with no choice, but to appeal the school in doing the needful for them to apply
Maryam*, A 200 level student of the Linguistics department also narrated her ordeals to Pen press UDUS on the response of “missing information contact institution ” showing on her phone screen while urging the management to do the needful.
