Pen Press UDUS, a multiple award winning press oufit in Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto has on Thursday, 3rd of January, 2019 unveiled a mobile application which is currently available on playstore
The press outfit whose aim is to bring the most genuine news and quality writings at the fingertips of Danfodites and beyond, as shared by the Editor-in-Chief, first of all in 2018, rebranded their blog in favour of her readers that may not find her social media platforms accessible, and to also meet up with the growing standard of the global world.
In an interview with the EIC of the press outfit: Comrade Yahaya Nurudeen Akewushola, he explained that the blog was rebranded to include features that would make it easily accessible and convenient.
“Before now, some of our board readers who had no smart phones and so couldn’t be on our social media platforms, reached out to us, and aired their interest in viewing our content via the blog, and since as we all know, Pen Press is here to serve, we rebranded it and added features that would make it easily accessible. Plus the world is fast becoming a global one, and Pen Press has no plans staying behind.” He explained.
The outfit in a tireless bid to maintain its good name and ensure that her readers are properly satisfied, went further to design a mobile app that would encapsulate direct links to their Facebook page, and the blog. On the features of the app, the Editor-in-Chief had this to say:
“The Mobile app is very easy to operate. Once downloaded and installed, it leads you directly to two links that would display Pen Press UDUS’ Facebook page and the blog.”
Comrade Akewushola went further to explain that the mobile app was created in order for her readers to easily access both the blog and Facebook within the same platform.
“By having the app, one needn’t to open their Facebook app before they can read our content, neither does one require to visit the blog via their browser. The app would go a long a way in easing the stress of having to do any of the aforementioned, because in it are direct links to the Facebook page and blog.”
He added that Pen Press UDUS has always wanted to measure up with the 21st century journalism standard, and with the app now, is a step closer to achieving that dream. In his words:
“We at Pen Press UDUS are not limiting ourselves to the regular campus journalism, we’re looking at exploiting journalism proper and living up to the expectations. Having an app may not entirely ensure that, but it is at least headed at that.”
Comrade Akewushola went on to urge the readers of the outfit to anticipate new and exciting packages this 2019:
“Danfodites must be aware that this 2019, Pen Press UDUS is taking her journalism to another level. In addition to the already existing columns – Morocco 101, Monday Motivation, Poetry Pot and Fiction Wednesday, there would be more columns that will soonest be unveiled.
Our reporters would also be assigned distinct tasks to carry out investigative researches on happenings around the Varsity, which will thereby enable us publish information that would replace rumours and supposed flawed surveillance of the environment.”
