On the 25th of August 2025, The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) UDUS chapter staged the intensive inter–faculties Qur’anic competition among the bona-fide interested Muslim students across the four walls of the university. The competition was scheduled for three (3) consecutive days which began in the eve of Friday and was finally concluded on Sunday, at the ETF three (3) lecture hall
If Quran recitation could heal, it would definitely be the melodious voices of these reciters.
As the program began to unfold, the respective faculties’ reciters were called upon to the stage to demonstrate their fluency and eloquence competency in reciting the holy verses with their heightened sonorous voices. It is correct to say that it is a thing for something to be good, but when something is said to be hyper– superb, then that’s another thing entirely; this would be the apt compliment one could ever give each representative considering their performance.
If emotion was a river, I assumed I would have been dunked beneath it, because one would wonder how graciously the Muslim brothers and sisters turned out in troops to grace the Musabaqah . Every participant wore the aura of courage like armor, in the presence of the hundreds plus crowd, each reciter signaled not even a glimpse of phobia or shivering as they were reciting confidently and calmly.
While the program was at its peak, there is no doubt that the audience would be having a thought whether it’s actually the sweet recitation that held everyone still and calm or the holiness of the glorious book that birthed an absolute decorum to the room. Unlike other events that are usually noisy and uncoordinated, it was crystal clear that the Qur’anic recitation was done in a complete peaceful ambiance.
As an audience in the just concluded inter-falculties Qur’anic competition, I am proud to be amongst the Muslims Ummah and it gladdens me to say that Islam is a religion of peace that teaches morality and all aspects of human affairs.
